Ayesha James graduated this spring with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from University of Massachusetts Boston. She is now looking to take the next steps. Ayesha has applied to several jobs that would allow her to support her community, and she has been given several offers of employment. But Ayesha dreams of becoming a teacher, and she hopes to be admitted to an accelerated teaching program for the fall.

Ayesha is thankful for the support of her friends, family, and Alray while she finished her bachelor’s degree. As a wife, mother of four, and real estate professional, she found the idea of returning to school intimidating and did not know how she would juggle her responsibilities. But her friends saw her drive and encouraged her to return to school. Their belief in her abilities allowed her to recognize her own potential. “All it takes,” Ayesha remarks, “is for someone to say, ‘You can do it!’”

Ultimately, Ayesha considers Alray’s financial support and her mentor instrumental in her higher education experience, and wants to thank the program for helping her successfully complete her degree. Through Alray, Ayesha was paired with her mentor, Janet Taylor. Ayesha was impressed that Alray was able to connect her with Janet, who complemented her study and work ethic perfectly. As Ayesha continued to take additional courses, Alray’s financial support became instrumental in her success. “I would not have been able to finish,” Ayesha says, “if I didn’t have Alray’s support.”
