Marcsene Torchon

Marcsene always wanted to use his education and professional skills to give back to his community. A winner of several awards for mentoring, he entered Roxbury Community College but was forced to leave after one semester because his family was not able to help him pay the tuition. After receiving a scholarship from the Alray Scholars Program, he attended Bunker Hill Community College with the goal of transferring to a competitive 4-year college and pursuing a career in medicine or public health. In addition to a work-study position that helped pay for books and transportation, he also volunteered at Span, Inc. as a group mentor to persons recently released from prison.
