Alray Scholars Program Selected for $100K for 100 Program

We’re thrilled to have been selected as one of 100 local nonprofits to receive grants of $100,000 each through Cummings Foundation’s $100K for 100 program, chosen from more than 430 applicants during a very competitive review process. Neil Swidey, founder and board president of the Alray Scholars Program, and Anne Comber, chair of the Alray Scholars Advisory Committee joined more than 250 other guests at a June 2 reception at TradeCenter 128 in Woburn to celebrate the $10 million infusion of funding into greater Boston’s nonprofit sector. For the second year, this exclusive event drew representatives from all 100 grantee organizations, as well as many public officials.

Scholars Join Growing Roster of Graduates

2013 saw the graduation of two Alray Scholars and the stepped-up involvement in the organization by two previous graduates who are now helping to choose our future scholars. Both developments are critical to the pay-it-forward ethos of this organization. The Alray Scholars Program gives promising students a second chance at college through scholarships and mentoring support. And all we ask in return from those students is that, after they earn their degree, they remain involved in the organization so they can help similar students follow in their path of success.
